~ Admissible Symmetries of Substitution Systems ~
Alvaro Bustos Gajardo (The Open University) is a postdoctoral research assistant looking at how the combinatorics of substitutions translate into the existence (or absence) of a given symmetry. His talk was based upon a paper published in 2021 which he co-authored with Daniel Luz and Neil Mañibo. An outcome of considering symmetry in any setting is that attractive diagrams often result. As the above photograph illustrates, in that respect Alvaro's talk did not disappoint!
