“Aperiodic order provides a versatile platform for cooperations and proves the point that mathematics is a unit, and not a collection of disjoint disciplines” (Uwe Grimm†, 2015)

The two events where in honour of Uwe Grimm (The Open University), a leader in the field of aperiodicity. He died unexpectedly whilst in his prime last year. The slides in this gallery are focussed upon the mathematical presentations alongside a relatively non-technical commentary. The photographs are unstaged iPhone snapshots taken from the audience as the talks were underway. Uwe was very much into mathematical outreach activities and, in that spirit, my intention in this gallery is simply to give a flavour of what attending a mathematical conference is about by showing a handful of leading modern day working mathematicians in action.
