“Mighty is geometry; joined with art, resistless” (Euripides)
In June 2022 The Open University organised a three day event that paired together an art exhibition on “Aperiodic Tilings” with a conference for mathematicians on “The Aperiodic”. The art exhibition was open to the public with several hundred school children visiting to view the displays and experiment with making their own aperiodic tilings. For the mathematicians, some of the world's leading experts on the mathematics associated with aperiodicity gave talks on their recent research. Also giving presentations where a handful of postdoctoral research assistants at the start of their careers in mathematics.
