The concluding workshop talk was by Anu Jagannathan, a solid state physicist who aspires to further an understanding of the magnetic and electrical properties of complex materials such as quasicrystals. Her endeavours revolve around developing statistical mechanical models that are solvable through mathematical analysis. The talk was a sweeping overview of how a vast and intricate branch of physics has advanced in recent years. For an up-to-date sample of Anu's endeavours I've selected one of her recent papers from 2023 that features the Ammann-Beenker tiling.
