~ Hand Stitched Masterpiece ~
With the first day of the two day workshop talks concluded, a look around the associated art exhibition was scheduled, ahead of an evening meal. Of the many fine exhibits on display I particularly liked the artistic use of colour and texture in a quilt, hand sewn by Emma Laughton. She has stitched together 1200 individual 'hat' tiles whilst keeping track of how to fit them together and with an overall colour scheme in mind involving 33 different fabrics. A spectacular blend of “getting the mathematics correct” combined with artistic flair.
