Mirror Ball (2005)
Like Saw Wave, Mirror Ball is an early composition from 2005.
In those early days I'd stumble across a new effect and use it right away least I forget what I'd found.
Mirror Ball captures the moment when I perfected the mathematics of dropping one shape,
in this case a circle, onto a background, here some simple vertical stripes.
I found the distortions around the dropped in shape pleasing as
they helped merge the stripes and the circle without a discontinuity.
I was also experimenting with weird colour combinations using as few colours as
possible to get interesting colour clashes.
These days, I doubt I'd use a single effect in such an obvious way, but
Mirror Ball is part of my "evolutionary artistic journey".
I remain fond of it.
